Love Until It Hurts

The more I love the more I hurt
Pain and pleasure go hand in hand
The more I lose the more I gain
The more I want to give
I push it to the limit, gamble everything
Give more than I get
Take more than I am given
Sometimes all I do is wait
They push back, reach and resist
But you must go all the way
To feel it all, the bad, the good
The joy, the agony, the bliss
All must be accepted, taken in
You must feel with soul
Spread your wings, raise your sword
You must confront your emotions
Ruminate your feelings
Lose yourself to find the other
You must undress your mind
Empty all knowledge
Take off your blind fold
Go back on what you believe
Lose perspective to find purpose
Take love in as a meal
Savor it, allow it to nourish you
Feed it to your spirit
Love becomes a part of you
Your conscience, your heart
Let it flow through your limbs
Fill your veins, muscles and bones
Accept it, multiply it, share it
Make it infinite, soul food
Free your emotions
Let it out, let it go
Love until it hurts

Eternal Love

What I feel comes from a pure spring
Untouched by hate and hurt
Nothing can taint this love I feel
This passion that burns inside of me
Incinerating every fear, every fault
Nothing can put out the love I have for you
This passion that flows throughout me
The peace of knowing your beauty
The simplicity that is to touch you
The spirit of Venus connecting us
With ease and happiness are my thoughts of you
The completeness I feel when I see you
This love I hold for you will endure
I’ve lost and found you many times before
A feeling so strong it can wipe out towns
An emotion so powerful it can build worlds
Our own dimension made by us
By desires, fantasies, creative touch
A love unbound by distance and trails
A passion I feel through the stars and the moon
A love that breaks every law of this world
Surpassing the ego, the sickness
Healing the human condition
My love reaches beyond this atmosphere
A feeling I carry with me everywhere
Transpiring through my every word
They see us, they know us
In my eyes, in my heart
It’s clear why we struggle to see
This feeling is bigger than you and me
You gave it names, you gave it logic
But what I feel is unknown to reason
It is light, untamed, it is freedom
Purity, my soul’s richness
The divine love living in me
The sweetness in my words
The wisdom in my modest prose
Forever, from an unknown source
An eternity of faithful feeling
You’re the love I fight for
The man worth my heart and soul
Owner of my composing spirit
I love you beyond words
Past actions and errors
Soon I will bloom in full
Into the woman you dream of
God save my love
You are my past, present and future
The eternal love living in me

Amor Eterno

Eu ti perdi e ti encontrei inúmeras vezes
Superando o ego, a doença
Dono do meu espírito compositor
Eu te amo além das palavras
Em breve vou florescer em pleno
Na mulher que você sonha
Deus salve o meu amor
Você é o meu passado, presente e futuro
Meu amor eterno

Rio

There is something kind and beautiful
The aura of the Carioca people
Some are working slave jobs
Exploited by the upper class
Oppressed, earning unjust wages
Struggling to support their children
They work their fingers to the bone
Without recognition or reward
No benefits, no insurance, no promotion
Monday to Monday the poor are taken advantage
Still nothing stops them from smiling
Their spirits seem to be singing

It’s hard to explain what drives this city
What keeps them going, attempting to rise above it
Above their circumstances, corrupt government
Lack of opportunities, equality, freedom
Favored minorities rule the state
Status and class determines success
They seem so happy under sad circumstances
The parties are endless, every day is a celebration

The beautiful beaches, faces, bodies
Conceal the poverty
The wild forests, the Indians, the culture
The rich vegetation, the exotic animals
The statue of Christ embracing the city with open arms
The samba steps born in the feet of the people
The food, the music, the arts are for everybody
Misery fuels the running, nothing is taken for granted
Pleasure is casual, gold coins for the soul
Everybody dances, young and old, in sheer joy
Simple but nonetheless amazing cultural displays of art

The people are modest, shame on the elitist mind
Everybody hits on everybody, life is a big party
There are no rules, only guide lines to live by
To protect the people but never to injure the fun
Entertainment is imperative in a hot blooded town
Protected events, nobody pulls out guns

Organized crime takes place inside the Favelas
There’s an understanding
Between the law and the criminals
The bandits pay tax to the cops
For the freedom of trafficking drugs
The police sell weapons and intel to the villains
In the slums
Discretion is demanded from the community
Instead of toys and book bags
You’re likely to see teenagers carrying weapons
In the project streets
Gang members parade around with machine guns
This form of intimidation instills fear
And maintains the peace in the trafficking neighborhoods
But the fun never stops, gang lords throw parties every weekend
Filled with musicians, dancers, fireworks and beautiful people
Church members walk around handing out flyers to the addicts
Its another world, to live here you must understand and cope

Politicians manipulate the poor, take from their welfare
The justice system is as bad as the criminals, robbing everyone blind
You can get away with anything if you pay the toll of silence
We don’t know who the good guys are, so we trust nobody

So poor in a country rich with natural resources
I try to understand what motivates the underprivileged
These amazing human beings, hospitable, heart warming
Hard working, enduring prejudice, racism
Black skin, brown skin, yellow skin, white skin
All suffer equally
Everything seems harder to achieve in this city
Things Americans take for granted
Are oftentimes impossible for many
For some, a house, a car, a career, a vacation
Is only a distant dream
Here sacrifice is a major part of life
Flushing dreams down the toilet daily

The hard workers ride crowded buses
Struggle to fill their bellies
Minimum wage isn’t enough
To afford the basic needs of a society
But somehow millions of families make it every day
Here everything is a sacrifice
So the food tastes that much better
I feel so modest among the people
No one cares where you went to college
It’s about morals, virtues, substance
Who you are as a person
Here the streets never sleep
The people never rest
Always awake, always ready
To battle this war they call life
In Rio

My Enemy, Time

My enemy, time
Continues to oppress my life
We cannot rely on our wits
Our foolish ego plays tricks
Happiness is a fleeting experience
Our bodies enslave us
To break free from flesh desires
To know our soul, we must free the senses

A partner, as wonderful as they might be
Will not change who we are meant to be
To fill your heart with one love
To drink from one cup
To eat the same plate everyday
Not enough to sustain
A ritual bound to break us
A faulty contract, a martyr system

Reality is the only constant
Change is an illusion
You must be one with your spirit
To be a realized human being
Life’s tasks are never finished
Many will never ripen and cultivate nothing
Few build and many take
Be giving in moderation, selfish in moderation

Compassion is imperative to your minds wellness
Following your interests and neglecting society
Your duty to your brother, your lover
Will make you sick hearted
Good and evil are attracted opposites
Different but the same
Rational and emotional want each other
Impulsive and patient crave the other

Thirty-three will be my peak
Forty-two, your demise
Bear your soul to God
Fill your heart with friendship, forgiveness
Cherish your family, honor your parents
Fight with no one, think before you offend
These things I learned the hard way

True knowledge of self brings freedom
Of attachments to the world
Nothing is permanent
Happiness is a fading glimpse
Every deed reaps with time
Your evil words hurt your soul
But does not injure mine

Love transcends time and space
My heart extends beyond this planet
Death is a break between flesh and spirit
The in between mortal and eternal
Jealousy is stupidity hiding behind passion
My patience will serve me well
My dreams are attracted to me
While time, my only enemy, plots against me
